From this moment, the women of WUCWO join in prayer for your intentions: peace, unity, the construction of a missionary synodal Church that reaches out to all, especially to those most in need of charity and love... We ask the Holy Spirit to enlighten and strengthen you so that you may guide the People of God in fidelity to the Gospel and according to the will of the Lord.
Pope Francis' great legacy to the women of WUCWO
Thank you for your trust in us!
With deep sorrow, but also with a heart full of gratitude, the World Union of Catholic Women's Organisations (WUCWO) joins the whole world in prayer for the soul of our dear Pope Francis, who showed us so much love and appreciation throughout his pontificate. I still clearly remember the words he addressed to us at the private audience he gave to about 1500 women of our organisation in 2023. On that occasion he said: "And if we want to know what humanity is without woman, what man is without woman, we have it in the first page of the Bible: loneliness. Man without woman is alone. Humanity without woman is alone. A culture without women is lonely. Where there is no woman, there is loneliness, arid loneliness that breeds sadness and all manner of harm to humanity."

The World Union of Catholic Women’s Organisations (WUCWO) signed an interreligious message of mourning for the death of Pope Francis, alongside women of various faiths. The connection between these religious women leaders was born during the Vatican conference "Women building a culture of encounter interreligiously", held in 2023 by the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue in collaboration with WUCWO. The signatories remember the Pope as a guide and teacher, recognising his concrete commitment to affirming the voice, dignity, and role of women in interreligious dialogue.

WUCWO women thank the Lord for the life, witness, and great legacy of Pope Francis, who dedicated himself to others until the very end.
He led us towards an outgoing synodal Church. He promoted a "pastoral ministry with open doors" to bring everyone, without exception, closer to God's mercy. He gave and asked us to prioritise the poor and marginalised, working tirelessly for peace, fraternity, and care for our common home. He advocated, through word and example, for respect of the dignity of women and their full participation in the Church and society. Always consistent and open to change, he reformed and brought a new breath of hope within and beyond the Church.

Let us journey together, in hope, towards the light of the Risen Christ
Dear friends of WUCWO,
we are in the midst of Lent, a sacred time that the Church offers us to prepare our hearts and open ourselves to God's grace. In a little more than two weeks we will begin the Holy Week and then Easter. A few days ago, our Ecclesiastical Assistant sent us a message about the beauty of the meaning of Lent. I, for my part, would like us to encourage each other to live this last part of the journey consciously. It often happens that, as Lent progresses, we become discouraged or forget the resolutions we had set ourselves. That is why I think it is important to live this moment in unity, to strengthen our good intentions.

At the School for Synodality of WUCWO, through its Observatory, we are committed to ‘Listening to transform lives’. Since 2021, we have been working to amplify voices within the Church through Conversations in the Spirit, the training of facilitators and the promotion of active and meaningful participation. In collaboration with the Secretariat of the Synod, we continue to train missionaries of synodality, ensuring that the voice of the faithful reaches the heart of the Church.
