The General Secretariat of the Synod has released the “Pathways for the Implementation Phase of the Synod”, a guiding document to support local Churches as they begin the concrete implementation of synodality in their communities.
This new phase marks a significant step forward in the synodal process, emphasizing formation, inclusion, listening, and mission. As Sister Nathalie Becquart, Undersecretary of the General Secretariat of the Synod, explained in an interview with Vatican News:
The notion of the exchange of gifts is really a core notion of the Final Document, a core notion of a synodal Church. We can apply it to the exchange of gifts among members of the People of God, members of the Church. We all have something to give and something to receive. But we can also understand it as the importance of the exchange of gifts among local churches.
Sister Nathalie also pointed out that although the implementation will take time, the key is to begin and remain committed:
In this context, the World Union of Catholic Women’s Organisations (WUCWO) and its School for Synodality was mentioned as an example of how synodal formation is already being lived out.
This recognition affirms WUCWO’s ongoing efforts to promote a synodal Church that listens to and walks with women around the world. Through its School of Synodality, WUCWO offers formation, tools and spaces for dialogue that can help to take part in shaping a more missionary and Synodal Church.
