At the General Assembly of WUCWO held in Dakar, Senegal in October 2018, the delegates passed a resolution calling on its members, as responsible for our Common Home, to recognise their collective responsibility to care for the planet that God created and placed in our care and to take steps to reduce and reverse the damage already sustained.

The Working Group of the Board entrusted with carrying out this resolution has proposed, as the first course of action, an annual worldwide clean-up day on any Saturday in September (to be determined according to local convenience) on which it is specifically proposed to organise cleaning projects to reduce the amount of garbage found in the world's waters.
