Monthly Message January 2018

Dear friends,

serene and fruitful 2018!

This year will see WUCWO women committed in the preparation of our General Assembly to be held in Dakar next October.

Which is the style we need to get ready for it? The Holy Father - in his message for the 51st World Day of Peace -  encourages to have a contemplative gaze which is fostered by the wisdom of faith. Contemplative does not mean to be steady, vice versa we are emboldening “to continue being a band of missionary disciples who experience and testify to the joy of knowing that the Lord loves us with infinite love, and who, together with him, profoundly love the times in which we live.” (Pope Francis to ACI on April 30th 2017)

“We must also turn this contemplative gaze to the cities where we live, “a gaze of faith which sees God dwelling in their houses, in their streets and squares, […] fostering solidarity, fraternity, and the desire for goodness, truth and justice”  – in other words, fulfilling the promise of peace…Those who see things in this way will be able to recognize the seeds of peace that are already sprouting and nurture their growth. Our cities, often divided and polarized by conflicts regarding the presence of migrants and refugees, will thus turn into workshops of peace.” (Message for the 51st WDP)

Pope Francis says “Remain open to the world around you.  Engage readily in dialogue with your neighbours, even those who may have other ideas than your own, yet long, like you, for peace, justice and fraternity.  It is in dialogue that we can shape a shared future.  Through dialogue, we build peace, caring for all and entering into dialogue with all.”

This commitment for dialogue is a characteristic of WUCWO, and we need to carry on such goal.

In a few days you will receive all the preparatory papers for our General Assembly. First of all, I ask   to pray and accompany the path towards it, let involve all our members so that our General Assembly may receive the contribution of all WUCWO women.

May Mary, Queen of WUCWO protect us in such deal.
